Please reach us at happydog@joyfulacres.net if you cannot find an answer to your question.
We are open Monday through Saturday from 8am to 10am and 4pm to 6pm, and Sunday from 4pm to 6pm.
Please note that our facility is located on our family farm, just steps from our home. Please respect our customer hours and our privacy and do not arrive off hours and/or without an appointment. Also, drive carefully (slowly) on our property as we have children and pets at play.
Please reach out to us to discuss your pet's specific needs. We can accommodate most medication administrations, diabetic dogs requiring insulin and many other circumstances. If your dog requires round the clock medical care or substantial medical supervision, we recommend medical boarding with a vet's office.
All pets lodging at Joyful Acres must be current on Rabies, Distemper and Bordetella vaccinations. For your pet’s protection, we request that all vaccinations to be given at least 14 days prior to your pet’s stay. Specifically in the instance of bordatella, if the vaccination is administered by injection we may be able to accept the dog for check in sooner (please call us to discuss). If the vaccination is administered intranasally or orally we cannot accept your pet for 14 days. Please be advised if these guidelines are not followed we may not be able to lodge your pet. Please contact us with any questions or concerns.
No, we DO NOT put pets that are not from the same family together. Your dog will have its own run (or condo) and will never be mixed with any other dogs. Even when we take dogs out for play times or trail walks, we never mix dogs from different families.
There are many facilities that promote group play times and frequently blend many dogs together in a large play area. We think the practice of blending dogs from different families can be dangerous, and potentially harmful to the pets and our staff. We prefer to provide all of our guests with as much human contact as possible -- touching, petting, fetch, belly rubs, giving treats, etc. Our guests do have the opportunity to be social both in the kennel and out in our play areas, as they can see and smell other dogs, but they will never come into physical contact with a pet from another family.
We are happy to administer your dog’s oral or topical medication, free of charge. We do apply an additional fee if we need to give injected medication (ie insulin). For the safety of your pet, we ask that the medication must be in its original bottle with a current prescription. Please provide something that your pet will enjoy to give them their meds if they will not take it with their food (PB, cheese, lunch meat, etc). If your dog will not take his/her medication willingly and we cannot safely give it without getting bitten, we will let you know so you can make other arrangements in the future.
There's much to see here. So, take your time, look around, and learn all there is to know about us. We hope you enjoy our site and take a moment to drop us a line.
